I must have read a thousand faces, I must have robbed them of their cause.

WHOOOAAA I have no idea where this came from or what it means, but it's pretty cool. My very first painting with gouache - I am sure this is what I'll eventually break down and use to colour my comic with.

I remember having this idea ages ago, at least a year ago, so way before I was ever in the painting class. I can probably apply this to my "balance" assignment this week. Maybe not. But I'm sure gonna try!

The only parts I don't like are 1) the uneven-ness of the stars, and 2) the fact that you can still see a bunch of pencil lines, and they are ICKY. Oh well...

I might disintegrate into the thin air if you'd like.

Things I drew at Missoula Children's Theatre rehearsal. I played the piano. There was a lot of waiting around at times. They have a website, but I'm too lazy to link to it. The internet sucks!

I did the coloured ones on my ultra-crappy monitor and I don't even want to KNOW what they look like on any other computer. The frumpy-eared thing on the far left is Spike, another of my old animal-person characters from New Edge. Oh, how vile.

Hey! As of October 23rd, my blog is a year old! Coolness!

Every other week I need a new address! Landlord, landlord, landlord, clean up the mess!

Martin, in my own personal homage to Canadian comic artist Seth. To absolutely anyone who might be reading this: You may never have heard of Seth, but chances are you've seen his artwork. He does the cover art for the Vinyl Cafe CDs and books, plus the Complete Peanuts cover art, plus cartoons in the New Yorker and various other prestigious publications. Not too shabby. I have a confession to make: I wish I could be as successful as him someday. (And no, my character Seth is not named after him.)

This is for my painting class (I guess) and is nothing but acrylic. It is probably not the kind of thing I should be doing for this class, either (i.e., cartoony and not realistic - I'm not really broadening my horizons, here), but I'll try not to make a habit of it. I am in a rut. I wanted to have fun drawing something again. And so I did. The end.

(Dear god, I whine so much on this blog. I promise to work on that.)

"Two sips from the cup of human kindness, and I'm shitfaced. Just laid to waste."

Pictures That I Never Finished, part 3. This one started as a doodle that I did in Sketchbook 3...oh, about two years ago. Yikes! It's kind of cute, but like the others, I guess I abandoned it because there were too many things wrong with it...

From until we're no longer one / to the bona fide embodiment.

An entire page out of my sketchbook: more sketch crawl drawings of doom. The focus this time was on composition....the last drawing is unfinished because people kept driving in front of the scene. This made me so annoyed that I gave up, since I was running out of time anyway. It's supposed to be part of a construction site, not piles of books. I'm regretting inking it, because it had more energy as a sketch and didn't look quite so much like piles of books. But sometimes I only ink things so that they won't smudge onto the adjacent page. Sigh.

Turn this car around..

Pictures That I Never Finished, part 2. A now-off-model Billy tries to rescue his bookbag from a pit full of lava and tentacles, while Krug, the evil Russian potato monster, sneaks up behind him. Ahahahaha. Yes. This story is ridiculous. And therein lies the charm! I hope...

I'm glad I changed Billy's hairstyle, because wow, it looked really stupid. Paul says Billy resembles a young Richard E. Grant ("Withnail & I", "How To Get Ahead In Advertising", neither of which I have seen, but desperately want to). Paul also went home yesterday, so I'm not exactly in the best of moods right now.

Incarnation, three stars / delivering signs and dusting from their eyes.

Hi there. This is the first installment of "Pictures That I Never Finished." I was only going to post them after finishing them. But...no. Such is life.

The plant creature is redrawn from an earlier post on this blog that you might remember. The original drawing was better; it usually is. Seth still hasn't shown up in my comic yet. Oh dear. Maybe at this time next year I'll have gotten around to explaining why his hair is shorter than usual here.
