They can't loose the dogs on us, because the dogs like us more than the dogs like them.

Some more life drawing and a mildly entertaining sketch page. "The hair of David Bowie circa 1997" sounds really goofy out of context - such that I'm not even going to tell you what it's about! Haha!

Some of the heads there are my old Dead Layaways characters as humans. That drawing of Cedric (the one with the pointy nose and John Lennon sunglasses) is one of the ugliest things ever...but I still think it's alright, for some reason... :s

And if you focus very hard, the train will come for you at last.

Page 23, which I decided to scan at 600 dpi instead of my usual 300 dpi, even though it takes longer on my old clunky computer. I don't think it makes much difference when I shrink it down, but I suppose I need the 600 dpi versions for printing purposes. I honestly don't even know. I am a moron.

I'm not too impressed with this page either. I guess they can't all be masterpieces. I hope you enjoy my tributes to Mondrian in the background, though.

I've looked low and I've looked high...tell me, where does the spirit go when you die?

More possible portfolio pieces...try saying that five times fast... This one is a wonky gouache painting of a street close to where Paul used to live, from a photo I took.

Some life drawings from a billion years ago.

It's time I had some time alone.

Another painting. Wow, I actually like this enough to use as a portfolio piece. Holy crap. Usually I can't paint at all. I like the big chunky brushstrokes I got in the background and the overall sketchiness of the whole thing. And it only took about an hour to do...go figure!

And here's a doodle of Frankenstein's monster (with some cheesy Photoshite effects) that I did for Paul. See, Paul, I told you it wasn't as exciting as it sounded. ;p

Kill me in my favourite clothes. Kill me with that favourite company clock.

Page 22. Paul said I wasn't using enough black on these pages. (He also said that everybody on page 21 looks stoned, which they do!! XD) There you go...more black. He actually meant for me to draw shadows on the characters themselves, not just the backgrounds, but I don't really know enough about light & shadow to do that so it looks good in black and white. :( How embarrassing. And I'm planning on colouring these someday, as I've mentioned before.

Now I'd like to go off on a rant about how awful the new Fall album is. I didn't even CARE about it, because I knew it was going to be awful. But then Paul sent me an email one morning telling me how great it was and that it was "the best album since Perverted By Language" (I certainly wasn't buying into THAT), and "the best band MES has had in years." That same day he sent me the track "Insult Song," which, surprise surprise, was actually quite good! I got really excited and downloaded the rest of the album...and...sure enough...it was dreadful. The songs are indistinguishable from each other. I am tempted to say it's the worst Fall album ever. Yes, even worse than Are You Are Missing Winner, Light User Syndrome, and Cerebral Caustic. At least on all of these albums, you can tell the songs apart (and LUS has a small handful of great tracks).

In his email Paul also said that on the new album MES sounded like he actually cared, and was shouting again. (To me, MES has sounded like a feeble old man since at least 1994.) This comment, too, got my hopes up. But no. On the new album he sounds as feeble as ever.

I should KNOW better than to get my hopes up. I call this "The Go Forth Effect." Ever since Les Savy Fav released that steaming pile of shit known as Go Forth in 2001, and it was such a COLOSSAL disappointment, I haven't gotten my hopes up for ANY new album, ever.

Rant off. By now you probably hate me, or else you don't know what I'm talking about and don't care. :p

Choose your crime / Pour the ashes out the window / Empty mickey by the river shining like a broken arrow.

Page 21, with another horrid close-up - every time I draw a close-up of any of my characters, I want to run screaming from the room in mortal terror! Which means that I failed to make good on my promise to practise drawing faces. I failed you all (all three of you) yet again. I'm sorry. :/

Testing the temperature / One foot in the water / A splash makes me gnash my teeth in horror!

Another painting, on canvas, which I actually think is really good, despite its flaws. It's still a bad photo, though. I call it "Mr. Noisy Goes to Manchester," because the background is a picture of the Manchester skyline that I found on Google ages ago. I think. (Alternately, "Mr. Noisy & Chuck Taylor Go to Manchester," since Mr. Noisy is ALREADY British...)

I wanna spend Christmas with a Dalek!

And now, more pictures.

This one is a very bad photo of a probably equally bad painting I did of some Doctor Who toys, in a box with a flashlight pointed at it. That was the assignment. I had already been dying to do a painting of these two for my "personal project", the theme of which is...oh, I'm sure you can guess. It's "ENGLAND, AND WHAT IT MEANS TO ME." *rolleyes* So I decided to kill two birds with one stone. I hope that's allowed....maybe it's not... ;p

Anyway, we've got the Dalek Supreme and David Tennant as the 10th Doctor. This may be embarrassing, but besides the new series, I have only seen one older series of Doctor Who, with Tom Baker (the guy with the curly hair and the multicoloured scarf...the guy most people think of as the Doctor). I laughed so hard at it that I cried.

These are some fantastic Mario toys I got for Christmas (yeah yeah, I know, I meant to post them sooner...). There were 8 in all (plus one larger Super Mario) and each one is about 1 1/2 inches high. Pictured here is Mario, Luigi, and Fire Mario.

Super Mario poses with Knuckles and Bowser. Ha ha ha. Knuckles and Mario. Isn't that a riot? Oh, I kill me.
