PAINTINGS

Here are some PAINTINGS. As in, HONEST-TO-GOD ACRYLIC PAINTINGS. This is shocking, because I never paint with acrylics. It is like trying to paint with snot. First is my "On The Bus" characters with an extremely crooked border; the cover to the first book collection of strips might look something like this. I doubt I will ever draw enough strips to fill a book, but you never know. Midway through this picture I was reminded WHY I never paint...it is SO time-consuming.

Second is...um...a flying guy being pursued by pirates in a teeny-tiny motorboat. Or something. BUT I CHEATED BY DRAWING THE CHARACTERS! OMG!!
This is what the waves in that painting SHOULD have looked like, but they don't because I am retarded.
And finally, HELP! I'M BEING ATTACKED BY A FURRY!! Poor Seth. That guy can never catch a break, can he?

I don't like this page; it just feels like "more of the same" to me. Looked a lot better in my head. Oh well.

Cynthia

Cynthia with a voodoo doll of Seth, or something. Drawn without any reference whatsoever and it REALLY shows, especially when you turn this picture sideways. :O I mean look at her ass, it's the size of Jupiter. (my ass is probably just as huge, now that I think of it)

But you did not come to this blog to read about humongous asses.... I do apologise. I drew this with one of my many leftover animation pencils and a black biro. These pencils are so waxy that they clog my expensive technical pens if I try to ink over them with those, so that's why the cheap biro pen was used. ;p

clack clack

Hello again. Here are some more sketchbook pieces...

I don't really know what this is, so I'm just going to call it "Disney's Robin Hood, Re-Imagined As a Hideous Puppet, Orders a Stuffed Chicken To Lay An Egg." I have to admit that I love the idea of wooden word balloons on a stick.

And so here's another example of strange word/thought balloons, in Chinese ink and 6B pencil. These are more concept drawings for my Other Other comic which I am calling "Unhinged" for the moment and I'm starting to wonder if I could get some government grant money to do this comic. No, I'm not joking...I suppose I would have to find a publisher first, wouldn't I? I've no idea how this stuff works.

Page 69. This is one of my new favourite pages. Too bad you still must avert your eyes for the violence! Holy crap, people! :S

COME WITH US NOW ON A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME AND SPACE....

A couple of recent (meaning "within the past week" recent) things from my sketchbook.
Sometimes I still amuse myself by drawing fake concert posters (and I have no doubt in my mind that there really IS a band called "The Midwich Cuckoos"). This particular one would not work very well AS an actual poster because there is too much focus on the drawing and not enough on the concert information.
Howard Moon and Vince Noir from the British comedy series The Mighty Boosh. (Vince really really looks like an ugly woman in this drawing, but that is a running joke in the series anyway) I have had an unhealthy obsession with this show since January. I cannot even begin to describe how weird (and hilarious) it is. In Canada it can be seen occasionally on the satellite channel BBC K - heavily edited, mind you...

Page 68 (I apologise for the suckiness of page 67; I hope this and the following pages will make up for it). I remember this page being especially fun to draw.

PAGE 67, HOLY CRAP IT'S ABOUT TIME. I have been putting this off for at least a month and a half.

More comics soon! :D
